Hokuei Town: A Beloved Community Rich in Nature and Tourism Resources

Located in northern Tottori Prefecture, Hokuei Town is an agricultural community blessed with abundant nature and fertile land. Its specialty products―watermelons, Japanese mountain yams, and rakkyo (Japanese pickled garlic)―are highly regarded nationwide. It is also known as the birthplace of Gosho Aoyama, creator of the “Detective Conan” manga series (published by Shogakukan), and actively promotes regional development utilizing its tourism resources. The town features numerous spots popular with fans and tourists, such as the “Gosho Aoyama Hometown Museum” and “Conan Street.”

In recent years, alongside smart town development through information and communication technology (ICT) and data utilization, the town is advancing initiatives accommodating diverse lifestyles. These include fostering connections with urban areas and promoting dual-residence living. It is also focusing on sustainable regional development through public-private partnerships, aiming to become a new model for regional revitalization.

Supporting Coexistence in Local Communities Through Space Utilization

At Takagi Building, we operate “BIRTH,” a life creation brand that explores the future of real estate by fostering connections with the community, environment, and education. Starting from the coworking space “BIRTH LAB / WORK” in Azabujuban, Tokyo, it fosters a community where talent and companies from diverse fields―including IT, creative industries, public-private partnerships, education, finance, and HR―gather, laying the groundwork for startup support. BIRTH’s membership has grown to approximately 150 companies (as of October 2025), generating new synergies not only through relationships with the TAKAGI Group but also through collaborations among members themselves.

Furthermore, we are promoting the creation of gathering places through both software and hardware initiatives, such as collaborations with food and beverage companies that began during the COVID-19 pandemic and the mixed-use project “SALON 91°” in Ginza, Tokyo. We are also pursuing comprehensive partnerships with local governments and public-private partnership projects in Taiwan. Our business activities aim to create new real estate value, extending beyond the real estate industry we have built since our founding.

Through these initiatives, the TAKAGI Group hopes to share its accumulated expertise in community building and collaborative projects to spark regional revitalization, leading to the signing of this comprehensive partnership agreement.

Takagi Building began as a real estate business focused on leasing buildings. From there, we have advanced community development rooted in real estate, aiming to enable residents and workers to lead joyful and fulfilling lives. Through our “BIRTH” project, which connects communities using real estate as a foundation, we are deepening collaborations with various regions. Our partnership with Hokuei Town marks our sixth such collaboration. We are committed to working with partner municipalities and all stakeholders not just in one-way cooperation, but in joint efforts to create shared value and vibrancy. Our distinctive approach involves community activities centered around coworking spaces and local initiatives within Azabujuban, Tokyo. This area combines a long-established shopping district with prime central location, embodying a live-work integrated community. We aim to use this agreement as a catalyst to build a relationship with Hokuei Town that generates new value together.
