Located in Northern Finland, Oulu is the country’s fifth-largest city. Known as a “city of education” where over one-third of its population holds a degree, it has achieved sustainable development through education and technology. A joint event between BusinessOulu, the administrative body of Oulu City, and our company, Takagi Building Co., Ltd., was held at BIRTH LAB Azabujuban.

The morning session featured keynote speeches from representatives of the University of Oulu, the City of Oulu, and Oulu University of Applied Sciences. These presentations delved into Finland’s unique education system and values, exploring the essential mindset required for nurturing the next generation of talent.
The afternoon session focused on the advanced technologies and ecosystem of Oulu, Finland, renowned for its world-class wireless communications technology and industry-academia-government collaboration. Representatives from Oulu’s universities, companies, and ecosystem builders introduced projects, initiatives, products, and solutions aimed at collaboration with Japan in business and research fields.

This valuable opportunity to explore mutual support in business and R&D fostered active communication among participants. Starting from Finland’s educational philosophy and approach to life, the day broadly explored the potential for new connections and co-creation between Japan and Finland, serving as a “bridge” for future collaboration.
