“Untouched Peaks Range” 〈 Projection Power, Journey Power, Mountain-Building Power 〉 – Three Powers to Overcome Challenges and Open the Future –

We are pleased to announce a keynote lecture and talk session featuring Hiroshi Ishii, founder of Tangible Media Group and a leading figure in computer science research.
Theme: “Uncharted Mountain Range” 〈 Protrusion Power, Journey Power, Mountain-Building Power 〉 – Three Powers to Overcome Difficulties and Open the Future – How will the “spaces” we inhabit and the “places” where people gather change with technological evolution…?? This event welcomes Dr. Hiroshi Ishii, a globally renowned researcher and leading authority in computer science, to explore future-oriented “ways of living” and the “value of places.”
KEY NOTE_
In his keynote address, Professor Ishii will discuss ways of living that overcome challenges and forge new paths, centered around his three key concepts: “Protruding Power,” “Journey Power,” and “Mountain-Building Power.”
TALK SESSION_
Moderated by Hidekuni Takagi, Representative of the TAKAGI Group, and joined by architect Tetsuo Yamaji and Creative Director Shinji Ota, the discussion will span the distinct fields of architecture, design, and computer science. They will explore the theme of the “value of real spaces” in the future.They will explore new spatial experiences born from the convergence of “Design × Architecture × Computer Science” and the potential of future “places.” This program offers a tangible glimpse into the nature of “places” in the coming years and beyond.

Hiroshi Ishii(Tangible Media Group)
Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Deputy Director of the Media Lab. Born in Tokyo in 1956, raised in Sapporo. Graduated from the Department of Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Hokkaido University in 1978. Completed the Master’s program in Information Engineering at the same university in 1980 and earned his Ph.D. in 1992. After working at Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Public Corporation (now NTT) and NTT Human Interface Laboratory, he became an Associate Professor at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) in 1995. In October 1995, he founded the Tangible Media Group at the MIT Media Lab. His research on Tangible Bits was recognized, and he was granted tenure by MIT in 2001. His long-standing contributions and global research impact within the ACM SIGCHI (Computer-Human Interaction) international conference were recognized with the CHI Academy Award in 2006 and the SIGCHI Lifetime Research Award in 2019.
Shinji Ota(President and CEO, Steve* inc.)
Born in Miyagi Prefecture in 1977. Graduated from Tohoku Gakuin University, Faculty of Economics. Representative Director of the creative company, Steve* inc. Part-time lecturer at Tohoku University of Art and Design. Handles numerous branding projects for companies and regions, supporting mid-to-long-term management beyond traditional advertising frameworks. Serialized works include: Pen Online’s “Rules for Sake Lovers,” 77 Bank FLAG’s “What Universities Don’t Teach You, Tohoku Izakayas Will Answer,” Kahoku Shimpo’s “Paper Sensor,” and PR Marumori’s “Marumori Time-Delay Heritage.” Recipient of numerous awards, including the Agency for Cultural Affairs Media Arts Festival Jury Recommendation, Good Design Award, and ACC Award. In addition to Steve* GINZA OFFICE in Tokyo’s Ginza district, established Steve* CREATIVE LOUNGE in Yamagata, Tohoku in 2022.
Tetsuo Yamaji(Tetsuo Yamaji Architects & Associates, Inc. – Class 1 Architect)
Born in Kagawa Prefecture in 1980. Graduated from Shibaura Institute of Technology, Department of Architecture and Engineering in 2003. Completed Master’s program at Yokohama National University, Department of Social Space Systems in 2006. After gaining experience with Architect Christian Kerez (Switzerland), SAKO Architects (Beijing), and Kengo Kuma & Associates (served as chief engineer on projects including Shibuya Station Scramble Square), established Yamaji Tetsuo Architects in 2015. Handles a wide range of designs from residences to commercial facilities and mixed-use buildings. Representative works include “House in Ebisu,” “THE KNOT HOTEL TOKYO,” “IKE-SUN PARK kotoport,” “NEWSPICKS ROPPONGI,” and “KITASANDO COFFEE.” Recently gained attention for the wooden high-rise “Ginza Takagi Building.” Recipient of numerous awards including the Japan Federation of Architects & Building Engineers Associations Encouragement Award, the Forestry Agency Director-General’s Award at the “Outstanding Wood Utilization Facilities Contest,” the Good Design Award, and the Japan Space Design Award. Exhibited and lectured at JCD JAPAN SHOP 2025’s “33 Notable Space Designers Under 45” exhibition. Also serves as a part-time lecturer at Shibaura Institute of Technology.

Guided by the philosophy of “creating new value in real estate,” he oversees everything from design and development to management and operation of office buildings, residences, and coworking spaces, primarily in Tokyo. He also drives initiatives beyond traditional real estate boundaries to create new societal value, including collaborative projects with entrepreneurs, hands-on support, regional revitalization through municipal partnerships, and joint ventures with other industries.
