Press Preview for Completion|Ginza Takagi Building

Takagi Building Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nishi-Shimbashi, Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Hidekuni Takagi), which develops office buildings, residences, coworking spaces, and other properties throughout Tokyo aiming to create new value in real estate, has completed construction of the Ginza Takagi Building. Located in Ginza, Tokyo, this 12-story above-ground, 1-story underground building with a total floor area of 1,341.83 m² stands on the site of the former Ariga Photo Studio Building at 7-3-6 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo. Located on the site of the former Ariga Photo Studio building, the Ginza Takagi Building (Address: 3-6 Ginza 7-chome, Chuo-ku, Tokyo) is a mixed-use commercial building comprising offices and retail spaces. Construction was completed on Monday, May 1, 2023. To mark its completion, a completion preview event for press and media representatives was held over two days on Friday, May 26 and Saturday, May 27, 2023.

The most distinctive feature of the Ginza Takagi Building is its wooden construction. The section from the 9th to the top 12th floor, standing approximately 56 meters tall, utilizes cedar wood sourced from the Tama region of Tokyo, certified as locally produced “Tama-san-zai” timber. It appears like a “wooden box” floating amidst the surrounding reinforced concrete buildings. Amidst the recent global surge in SDGs and carbon neutrality initiatives, timber construction is gaining renewed attention as a sustainable building material. However, even in resource-rich Japan, beyond major corporations and public facilities, the use of timber in construction remains limited. This is due to concerns about structural integrity—such as durability and seismic resistance—as well as fire resistance and ease of maintenance.

Having navigated the COVID-19 pandemic, commercial formats are transforming, and the needs of buildings and tenants are shifting significantly. Takagi Building envisions real estate not merely as a “physical box,” but as a place where people gather, live, and communication flourishes. The Ginza Takagi Building, the flagship of the TAKAGI Group, aims to provide the warmth of wood—a sensation often difficult to experience in downtown buildings—and to become a richer place through the flow of people and gatherings. We are challenging ourselves with a “wooden building” to create new value in real estate. We aim to generate “diversity” in the historic Ginza district, contribute to revitalizing the neighborhood, and take on the role of creating “sustainable new value” for small and medium-sized buildings in Japan.

Furthermore, within the Ginza Takagi Building, the mixed-use facility “SALON 91°” will open in phases starting late September 2023. It will feature restaurants for enjoying all aspects of daily life, as well as the sauna facility “91° SAUNA,” offering panoramic views of the Ginza streetscape.
