Takagi Building Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nishi-Shimbashi, Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Hidekuni Takagi), aiming to create new value in real estate, is constructing a new mixed-use commercial building in Ginza, Tokyo (Location: 3-6 Ginza 7-chome, Chuo-ku, Tokyo), scheduled for completion in May 2023. The building will have 12 above-ground floors and 1 basement floor, standing approximately 56 meters tall. It is planned to house retail stores on the basement floor through the 2nd floor, office tenants on floors 3 through 8, and restaurants and other food establishments on floors 9 through 12. The building’s most distinctive feature is that the section from the 9th floor, where restaurants and other establishments will be located, up to the top 12th floor is constructed of wood. The uppermost section features a design resembling stacked wooden boxes, with the exterior walls also using cedar wood sourced from the Tama region of Tokyo, produced and certified locally as “Tama-produced timber.” Takagi Building is taking an early initiative in “wooden buildings,” which are gaining attention as sustainable building materials even for high-rise structures.
